Open water swim safety
“Torbay Tri Club do not organise any open water swimming sessions as we are unable to provide the required safety cover. We appreciate some members may want to arrange their own social swims but you are expected to comply with the Club Rules at all times and take personal responsibility for your own and others safety.”
This is the Club’s official position, supported by the British Triathlon Federation. Please familiarise yourself with the Club Rules at www.torbaytri.co.uk/membership. The membership form sets out the basic personal safety requirements which we should all follow wherever we go – nothing onerous, just common sense. The Club Facebook page will continue to be a place where members can arrange their own swim, bike and run sessions with other members.
Endless Pool Training
Looking for something more private than a crowded pool? Want to work on technique by yourself? Can’t make any scheduled lane swimming times?
One of our members, Graeme Kay, is kindly offering up his endless pool as a training resource. It’s self heating and a vastly underused resource that would benefit swimmers of all abilities, whether looking to do a long session alone or honing some particular skills.
If you’re not sure then speak to those who have used it before (Tim Watson, Jon Pressling, Glynn Hughes) or Graeme himself on 07717 216131. Booking adviseable just to make sure not in use and a £2 charge is suggested to help maintain and heat the pool.
