Our winter 2017/18 swim sessions have now finished. This page will be updated when the winter 2018/19 swim sessions have been confirmed and are expected to begin in October.

As approved at Tri Club meeting, the cost will remain at £16 for Torbay Tri members and non members will be £20 for a 4 week block. Going on high demands of previous years, it is expected to exceed the space we have and so we aim to give everyone a fair amount of sessions through the winter.

Q & A

Can I just turn up and swim the session on Wednesday night?

No, due to the size of the pool we limit the sessions to 16 people each week and those who have booked a four week block. If any spaces become available then they will be advertised on the club’s Facebook page.

Is there parking available at the leisure centre?

Yes, there is limited free parking but also free on-street parking nearby.

Are lockers available?

Yes, these are £1 (refundable) or you can leave kit on shelves poolside.

What do I need to bring?

Swimsuit, goggles, drink bottle. Pool aids (pull buoy, kick board) are provided but welcome to bring your own as we regularly use them.

How do I pay?

Please pay in cash to the coach at start of each 4 week block so we can pay the swimming pool for the booking.

Is is this session suitable for all levels?

Yes. We have 4 lanes varying in speed and ability so everyone is welcome. We aim to match people of similar speed in the lanes and then create sessions which everyone follows but the faster swimmers will swim longer.

Is this a swimming lesson?

No. We are not offering actual swimming lessons but triathlon related sessions. You will follow a plan through the hour comprising of a warm up, main session and cool down. The coach will offer tips, advice and coaching but this is not to be confused with swimming lessons.

Do I need to be able to swim a certain distance before joining?

We advise that you would be able to swim at least 100m (4 lengths of 25m pool) unaided and without stopping but ideally more. In general the groups would be covering between 1000m – 2000m but these would be broken down into 100m and 200m efforts.

Brixham Swimming Pool

This is a 25m pool which is a constant depth throughout meaning you will be able to touch the floor throughout.

Do I need to be a Torbay Tri member?

Not at all. We encourage people to join Torbay Tri as lots of benefits and it’s great to feel part of a club to share your training, knowledge and experience with. As a non-member you are welcome to join us, however if the monthly blocks prove popular then members will be given priority in booking.
