Throughout the winter months (October to end March/April) we run weekly turbo sessions that members and non-members are welcome to join.

Where will the turbo sessions take place?
We have a partnership with Torbay AC to use the club house at Torre Valley North in Torquay. This is located on Rathmore Road
Directions from Paignton
Turn left at the Grand Hotel and continue past Torquay train station, taking a left fork to continue along Rathmore Road after just a few hundred meters. At the junction at the end turn right and take the immediate opposite turn to your left to continue onto Rathmore Road. If you pass under the bridge then you’ve gone just too far. Just before the bridge on the right will be a metal gate leading up a single lane pathway which you can drive up to the parking for the club house.
Directions from Newton Abbot
At the traffic lights by Torre train station take the right lane to head to the seafront and onto Avenue Road (past Halfords on your right.) Continue until the second set of traffic lights and turn right at the crossroads to take Walnut Road. Take the first right onto Rathmore Road and the gates leading up to the clubhouse is immediately on your right.
Photo above shows the gate on the right which will be open and allow you to drive / walk up the pathway to the club house. Please note there are no lights up here so advise a torch or bike light.
What time are the sessions and how long are they?
We aim to start each session promptly at 6.30pm and so encourage you to arrive from 6.15pm to allow time to set up and have everything ready. Our coaches, and friendly club members, will be happy to assist with any questions or technical help if you are new to the sessions.
Each session is planned to last for an hour and there is the option of a short run at the end around the block or fields. We aim to leave the club house by 8pm and this means having everything cleared out and locked up.
Is there parking available?
Yes, free parking is available although limited and there are not designated parking spaces. Please arrive in plenty of time to park up and if you find there is not enough space then nearby free road parking is also available. There are approximately ten spaces available but this does fill quickly. There is no lighting around here and so please be aware of any storage units and do not drive in the grass. All vehicles parked here are done so at the owners risk and please do not leave any valuables in your vehicle.
Are there any changing facilities?
Unfortunately not and so please come prepared in your training kit and bring some spare clothes to put on afterwards. There are also no toilets available.
Is there a cost for the turbo sessions and do I need to be a member of Torbay Tri Club?
You don’t need to be a member to take part although we do encourage people to join Torbay Tri as there’s lots of benefits and it’s great to feel part of a club to share your training, knowledge and experience with.
The cost of the turbo sessions is:
£2 members (includes turbo hire if needed)
£3 non-members (includes turbo if needed)
What kit do I need?
Aside from the main bit of kit being a bike then you will also need cycling shoes or trainers, suitable and comfortable cycling clothes, towel and a drink. We would also suggest a spare clothes for putting on afterwards and running shoes for if planning to run also. Please also ensure you have your emergency contact details with you.
What if I don’t have a turbo machine?
If you don’t have a turbo machine of your own then no problem as we have some you can use but there is a limited number. If you have your own then we encourage you to bring this along. If you have any special requirements or need further information then please let one of our coaches know in advance.
Do I need to be of a certain ability to cycle with the group indoors?
Not at all and we welcome all abilities. Our sessions are planned so that cyclists of all abilities are able to participate and join our indoor sessions. Whether you are new to triathlon or a seasoned triathlete, training for an event or just looking to gain some fitness, come along and enjoy this great social activity.
What can I expect at the turbo sessions?
Our coaches, and athletes, extend a warm welcome to people of all abilities and adult ages.
Each of our coaches is officially qualified through British Triathlon, and take great pride in delivering sessions that we hope participants will enjoy and in a safe environment. We will do our best to offer advice where necessary and answer any questions you may have. If we don’t know then we’ll find out and get back to you.
Each session will comprise of a combined group warm up, main session and cool down.
