Cockington Christmas Caper 2019

Cockington Christmas Caper 2019

As the festive season begins, the weekend saw the return of the annual Cockington Christmas Caper. A firm seasonal favourite of local runners, the route promised and delivered its usual mud, sweat and tears. With the sun shining, it was noticeably warmer than in recent years as the runners set off along the challenging course taking in some beautiful trails and tough ascents. Torbay Tri Club was well represented across all age groups with some notable performances. Lee Turner was first home for the club in 2nd position overall and 1st MV40, with Jason Hurford close behind in 4th overall. Naomi Flanagan was the first female for Torbay Tri and 4th female overall. Torbay Tri had a particularly dominant performance in the FV50 category claiming four of the five top positions including 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the category. Helen Mackie led the way followed by Jo Loten and Sarah Welsh with Sue Hayes the 5th FV50. Davina Cull also had a strong race, building on her recent good form and completing the course 16 minutes quicker than in 2018.
