A third lockdown had little impact on the training for members of Torbay Tri Club who had a triumphant return at the first multisport race of the season. The Devon Duathlon replaces the popular Dartington Duathlon not only in name, but also a new location at Bicton in East Devon. The race held by Sportiva Events remained popular despite the new location with many Torbay Tri Club members making the journey for the early morning start in the cold. Two races were held with the standard distance of 10k run – 42k cycle – 5k run or a sprint version of 5k run – 22k cycle – 2.5k run was held over laps around Woodbury Common with the tough Devon hills testing the athletes.
Taking the win at the standard distance Donald Brooks was first home in 2:14:20. Also taking the age group win for Female Vet 50 was Wendy Urban in 3:02:11. Jon Parkinson also added another podium with 3rd in the Male Vet 50 in a time of 2:36:51.
