Strong Season Finale for Torbay Tri Club

As the nights begin to draw in and winter training sessions loom, club members made the short journey on Sunday 11th October to Tavistock for what will be a  season finale for many members. Local race organisers Sportiva hosted Sprint and Standard distance triathlons, starting at the modern 50m pool at the Mount Kelly Swim Centre. The weather made sure the race remained tough with heavy rain greeting the athletes on leaving the pool as they headed out onto the undulating bike course. On returning and leaving transition competitors had either a 1 lap (sprint distance) or 2 lap (standard distance) along an old railway line to complete their race.

In the standard distance race Steve Donnelly was the highest finisher for Torbay Tri in a solid 13th position overall. Taking podium spots in their age categories Cathy Parkinson won her age group of Female Vet55, Shaun Collier was 3rd in Male Vet50, Jade Hubbard 3rd senior female and Nicky Washbrook had a great race coming 3rd Female Vet40.

In the sprint race, Gary Burman was the highest place Torbay Tri member coming in 6th overall and there was strong performances from Emma Jefferys and Jon Cowling.
