Monday 7th October 2019, was the date when Cantina hosted the most hotly contested competition in the club’s calendar.
Forget Ironman, forget Sprint, Olympic and Duathlon nonsense, this is where the real action was. Once again, the main players assembled with their cakey creations which, until then, had been carefully guarded secrets.
As you can see, (if you can be bothered looking back at the previous years events), the standard had now become stellar, and it once again lay in the hands of Cantina’s award winning chef – Barry George – to blind judge the entries.
As the winner of the inaugural ‘Cake Off’ and the subsequent runner up in 2018, I would not have been upset to lose to any one of this year’s cakes. Obviously I didn’t, because to be honest, mine was the best, (again), but the victory was even sweeter because the competition was immense. Ultimately, there were joint winners this year as Mac and Val took joint 1st place, (even though there were two of them and only one of me), and we were both presented with meal vouchers from Cantina.
